Loved by many races, pixies are taken as good luck for travelers who see them. They spend most of their time defending, repairing, and improving the forest that they live in. They love to play jokes on passing travellers, and are one of Meiloq’s favorite creations. They are favored by Makiyaei and even Blustin enjoys their talent for magic. In truth, many of the gods love these creatures, and the races of the world aren’t an exception.
Pixies appear as small humanoids with cute, youthful, beautiful features and insect-like gossamer wings. Most pixies stand just over 2 feet tall—though they typically fly about the eye level of creatures they’re conversing with in order to maintain eye contact—and weigh about 30 pounds, though they never get much bigger than that.
Pixies love to dance. Their music is the most haunting and beautiful ever heard by mortal ears. Music filled with ancient sadness, as sweet as fresh honey, deeply sensual, with rhythms that are tranquil one moment, demented the next. Because of the limitations of the human ear, it is a music that is more felt then heard. Pixies often dance in circles, leaving rings of flattened grass to mark the sites of their midnight revels— or circles of toadstools springing up where Pixie feet have trod. They are generally benign, mischievous, short of stature and attractively childlike. Some pixies are said to steal children or to lead travellers astray. Pixies are said to reward consideration and punish neglect on the part of larger humans. By their presence they bring blessings to those who are fond of them. Pixies are drawn to horses, riding them for pleasure and making tangled ringlets in the manes of those horses they ride. They are great explorers, as their curiosity will often lead them far from home. In town, pixies usually make good assistants to other races or will sometimes take up a job as merchants, with rather surprising success, as they have good success for bartering and such.
